PURPOSE:To obtain natural variation in timbre before and after pitch variation by reading new waveform data which is switched by a switching means according to a frequency corresponding to new pitch. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 1 receives pitch data specified by the pitch specifying operation of a pitch specifying switch part 5, timbre control data regarding timbre selected by the operation of a timbre changeover switch 6-1 of a timbre and effect switch part 6, and pitch variation control data added by the pitch varying operation of a pitch bender switch 6-2, portamento setting switch 6-3, etc. Then the waveform data which is read out of a PCM waveform memory 8 is switched to new waveform data corresponding to the range that the new pitch belongs to and the new waveform data is read out according to the frequency corresponding to the new itch to vary the timbre as well as the pitch. Consequently, when the pitch varying operation is performed, the natural variation in timbre is obtained before and after the pitch variation. |
