The invention relates to a connecting element for the mutual connection of two profile rails, having an anchorage on one side, for example an anchor for pushing into a groove of one profile rail (anchor rail), and having a bolt which is in one part with the anchor and is intended for pushing into a groove of the other profile rail (bolt rail), and further having a screw which can be guided through a bore in the bolt, in order, in the mounted state, to be supported against a wall of the anchor rail and thus produce a fixed connection between bolt and bolt rail. The invention is characterised in that the bore in the bolts of the connecting element is inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the bolt rail, to be precise such that the supporting region of the screw (screw end) is nearer the anchor than is the screw head.
