PURPOSE: To install a nozzle dam without requiring a person to enter into a steam generator by disposing a manipulator component, e.g. a multijoint robot arm on the pipe plate or other inner support of steam generator. CONSTITUTION: A hermetic sealing member 34 has a rim part 46 riding over a substantially circular surface 32 covering the convex surface 30 of a dam subassembly. A compressed air supply duct 48 is provided in order to inflate one or more inflatable hermetic sealing tubes 36 against the nozzle wall. Conventionally, a person entered completely or substantially completely into a man-way 14 and passed dam segments sequentially through the man-way or a head region 12 while bending the knees in the head region. According to the inventive system, the dam unit 26 can be installed and removed completely by remote operation. |
