Fitting for windows and doors, comprising a handle which is mounted rotatably in a rosette or plate, a latching disc and a fastening disc being secured in a rotationally fixed manner on that part of the rotary-handle neck which projects into the cavity of the rearwardly open rosette, and the latching disc exhibiting, in its outer surface running concentrically with respect to the rotary axis of the rotary handle, preferably four latching cutouts which are arranged offset by in each case 90@ on the circumference and are intended for the resilient engagement of at least one latching ball which, together with a helical compression spring, is arranged in a sleeve, the sleeve being inserted in a cutout of the rosette, and the sleeve, which receives the latching ball and the helical compression spring, exhibiting, at its end towards the latching disc, an annular disc through which the rotary-handle neck engages.
