Method and apparatus for manufacturing strand-like metallic products

To manufacture strand-like metallic products, in particular metallic tubes of defined length, the products are rolled out by two forming rolls which are mounted axially parallel, form the roll gap between them, are moved to and fro together from outside by means of a drive and simultaneously perform a rotary movement with alternating direction of rotation, with stepwise advancement of the blank towards the forming rolls. The rotary movement of the forming rolls is effected by toothed wheels (6, 11) which, during the to-and-fro movement, roll directly or via intermediate toothed wheels (14) on toothed racks (9, 13). In this case, for the rolling process each of the forming rolls itself receives an additional advancement in the respective direction of rotation. <IMAGE>
