In a known circuit arrangement for supplying auxiliary devices from the loop current of the subscriber connection line, a transverse element with a shunt controller is used and the loop current flowing through the shunt controller is modulated in function of the microphone signal. This portion of the loop current is not available for supplying auxiliary devices. In the circuit arrangement according to the invention, a longitudinal controller (RL) with a main current path is looped into one speaker wire (a) whose output (c) is connected with the device(s) to be supplied, which is (are) connected to the other speaker wire. The voltage between the speaker wires can be modulated by the longitudinal controller (LR) in function of the microphone signal. By using a longitudinal controller, almost all the loop current, including the portion to be modulated, is available for supplying devices.
