FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: road-building bitumen is obtained from petroleum residues, which are oxidized in two steps at 90-115 C and then at 250-275 C, followed by vacuum distillation effected when viscosity of oxidized product achieves specified value. Vacuum distillate produced as by-product is suitable for use as motor fuel, marine fuel, or raw material for thermal and thermocatalytic processes.
