The invention relates to a lateral guidance device for a lateral guidance vehicle in which a sensing roller (2) which interacts in lateral guidance mode with a lateral guidance wall (6) is arranged by means of a roller axle pin (8) on a roller holder (3) which is attached to a sensing arm (1). The roller axle pin (8) is held so as to be movable on all sides in the roller holder (3) with a ball head (16) provided on the said roller axle pin (8). In order to block the sensing roller (2) in the normal position, the ball head (16) is pressed against a roller holder-side counter bearing surface (26) by means of a locking element (28) which is spring loaded and dips into a depression provided on the said ball head (16). The holding force is preferably adjusted by means of a plate spring (34). By overcoming this holding force which is set and transmitted in such a way, the sensing roller (2) can be pivoted out of its normal position.
