<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently perform retrieval to even a user insufficiently understanding a retrieval object by successively selecting select alternatives in each stage in an information retrieval system. CONSTITUTION:Select alternatives 203 for following indication and information 205 of keys of records where data to be next displayed at the time of selecting individual select alternatives 203 are stored are stored in a file capable of random access besides data to be displayed on a screen; and when data 204 read out from the file and select alternatives 203 are displayed on the screen by first selection and selection is indicated in this state, the display position of this data 204 displayed at present is changed to another part on the screen. Data to be next displayed is retrieved in accordance with the indication of selection, and newly read-out data is displayed in the first display position to wait for the next indication of selection. This operation is repeated to display data having a tree structure including the process of selection. Thus, the retrieval efficiency is improved through the user who insufficiently understands the retrieval object retrieves information.</p> |
