PURPOSE:To obtain a measured value accurately, and to contrive improvement in the preciseness of polarity discrimination by a method wherein, when the electrostatic capacitance between the electrode and the case on one side is measured, the junction point of said interelectrode capacitance and the electrostatic capacitance between the electrode on the other side and the case is connected to a guard terminal. CONSTITUTION:The -electrode 10-2 of an electrolytic capacitor 10 is connected to the guard terminal 3 of a capacity meter 7, and at the same time, a case 10-5 and +electrode 10-1 are connected to measurement terminals 1 and 2, and electrostatic capacitance 10-1 is measured. Then, the +electrode 10-1 of the electrolytic capacitor 10 is connected to the guard terminal 3 of the capacity meter 7, the case 10-5 and the -electrode 10-2 are connected to the measurement terminals 1 and 2, electrostatic capacitance C2 is measured, and the polarity of the electrolytic capacitor 10 is discriminated by comparing electrostatic capacitance C1 and C2. As a result, the effect of interlayer capacitance C and electrostatic capacitances C1 and C2 can be removed from the AC current which is generated on the measurement terminal 2 when the electrostatic capacitances C1 and C2 are measured, the measured value of the electrostatic capacitances C1 and C2 can be obtained accurately, and the accuracy of polarity discrimination of the electrolytic capacitor 10 can be conducted in a highly precise manner. |
