The glow plug includes a glow tube (2), in which are mounted the three resistances (10,11,12) and which is filled with a heat resistant powder (6) for insulating the resistances (10-12) from each other. The glow tube (2) is held in a cylindrical housing (3). A glow tube section (20) in which the third resistance (12) is accommodated, has a larging heating capacity than the other forward section of the glow tube (2). The glow tube section (20) for the reception of the third resistance (12) has a larger dia. compared to the dia. of the forward section of the glow tube (2). The first two resistance (10,11) consist of heater windings spaced at a predetermined resistance.
