<p>PURPOSE:To make high speed casting possible in a continuous casting device wherein a casting block is formed with water-cooled endless belts extended with plural pieces of guiding rollers for the wall surfaces on the long sides of an ingot and water cooled stationary side plates for the wall surfaces on the short side, by applying high frequency oscillations to the water-cooled stationary side plates. CONSTITUTION:The casting block of a continuous casting installation is formed of water-cooled endless belts 2 extended on plural pieces of guiding rollers 1 for the wall surfaces on the long sides of an ingot 6 and water-cooled stationary side plates 3 for the wall surfaces on the short sides. Oscillators 4 connected to a high frequency oscillator are fixed by means of horns 5 to the side plates 3. When molten metal arrives at the prescribed meniscus position of the plates 3, 5-50kHz high frequency oscillations are applied through the horns 5 to the plates 3. Therefore the lubricating effect of the side plates 3 and the solidified shell of the ingot is increased and the casting of a high speed is made possible.</p> |
