KAN 4430/35 Compounds of the formula wherein A is 6-Amino-9H-purin-9-yl or 2-Amino-6-hydroxy-9H-purin-9-yl, wherein the amino group may be replaced by NHC(O)R and N=CHR3R4, and R is OH or OC(O)R1, wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 is each independently straight or branched chain C1-20 alkyl, C1-l2 alkoxyalkyl, substituted or unsubstituted phenoxy-C1-4-alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted phenyl with the substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, C1-4 alkoxy, nitro, hydroxy, carboxyl or alkylamino, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, are useful in the treatment of retroviral infections.
