The method involves measuring a parameter representative of the presence or absence of a malfunction at a location of an electrical circuit using a sensor (3) e.g. thermocouple. Power supply is cut at the location at which the measurement indicates the presence of the malfunction in the circuit using a fuse (1) that is controlled by a switch (4) e.g. relay, connected to the sensor. An independent claim is also included for a device for protecting against a malfunction in an electrical circuit, comprising a sensor.
