The invention relates to a construction comprising vertical supports (1) for carrying a horizontal top part (5). The supports (1) have at least at one end and preferably at both ends a first (6) and a second arm (7) each of which may rotate on a vertical gudgeon (12, 13) between a first position in which the arms (6, 7) are parallel and extend along the corresponding end of the support (1), and a second position in which the arms (6, 7) extend at right angles away from the said end in an interacting position with the arms (6, 7) of another support (1). The arms (6, 7) are provided with coupling means (10, 11) which may pull the arms (6, 7) together from the interacting position to a locking position in which the arms are firmly interconnected and may support the said top part, which may consist of a plate (5) without substantial thickness or strength or a similar element. A number of supports (1) may be assembled in the above mentioned way so that a combined row of top parts (5) may constitute a continuous surface. The construction allows for arrangement of tables or similar elements in different patterns, such as a row of tables forming a square, or one long central table from which sidetables extend sideways. |
