PURPOSE:To enable automatic continuous zooming operation by carrying out filtering processing for a distance measurement result and employing none of distance measurement data which vary unexpectedly or temporarily as input information. CONSTITUTION:A distance measuring means 51 measures the distance to a subject and an evaluating means 52 which judges whether or not the measurement data can be used as arithmetic data for the focal length of a photographic lens for obtaining set photographic magnification, so that only data which can be employed as the distance measurement data for focal length arithmetic is inputted to a focal length arithmetic means 54; and the focal length of the photographic lens 12 is calculated based upon the input data and the automatic focusing operation is performed. Namely, the filtering processing for the distance measurement result is performed and the distance measurement data which vary unexpectedly or temporarily are not employed as the input information. Consequently, the automatic zooming operation is performed smoothly and naturally. |
