PURPOSE: To enhance accuracy in the detection of mass by providing a signal generator indicating the transmission rate of a transmitter at each time and determining a value having correlation with the mass by means of a calculator according to a specific formula. CONSTITUTION: Signal generators (r.p.m. detectors 2, 5) indicate the transmission rate of a transmitter 4 at each time and a calculator 13 calculates a value mEi having correlation with the mass according to a formula. In the formula, bei is the acceleration of a traveling vehicle under a state where a clutch 3 is thrown in,ηis the efficiency of a driving system, iαis the transmission ratio of transmitter 4, r is the dynamic rolling radius of a driving wheel 7, JM is the inertial moment of an engine 1, M Mi is driving torque or engine torque.
