PURPOSE:To enhance the adsorbability of resin to the surface of metal powder and to improve the oxidation stability of the metal powder in a magnetic tape by passing a gas contg. water and/or alcohol through the iron-based metal powder before oxidation treatment. CONSTITUTION:A gas contg. water and/or alcohol passes through iron-based metal powder to adsorb 0.2-5mol% water and/or alcohol and an oxidizing gas passes to oxidize the metal powder. The oxidation stability of this metal powder in a magnetic tape is considerably improved. |
