<p>PURPOSE: To form a low profile shield jack by forming a single conductive shield in the plug receiving cavity of a housing, and providing plural spring contacts for electrically contacting with the shield on a shield plug capable of being inserted into the cavity. CONSTITUTION: A shield 62 is formed single-like from a stamping rank 64 so as to define an upper portion wall face 84, and one pair of confronting and parallel side walls 86, 88 extending perpendicularly from the upper wall face 84. The shield 62 is slidingly inserted into the plug accepting cavity 76 of a housing 68 in a jack 66. The lengths of the upper portion wall face 84, the side walls 86, 88, and bottom portion wall faces 90, 92 are set so that the engaging end portion 93 of the shield 62 is arrayed with the biting surface 70 of the housing 68. By inserting a plug 50 into the jack 64, wiping electric contact between the shield 60 and spring fins 94 to 100 is achieved.</p> |
