The invention relates to a sandwich construction comprising at least one layer of a thermoplastic synthetic foam having a fiber reinforced plastic sheet bonded to at least one surface thereof, and the softening temperature of the synthetic foam being different from the softening temperature of the synthetic material fo the fiber reinforced plastic sheet. Preferably, this layer is a core layer of fiber reinforced synthetic material having on both sides a layer of the thermoplastic synthetic foam, said core layer being provided on both surfaces with the fiber reinforced plastic sheet.
