PURPOSE:To magnify and reduce smoothly binary picture information including oblique lies such as a character pattern by connecting 2-split points of each side of a rectangle taking 4 adjacent picture elements on an original picture as apexes with a straight line segment so as to divide the rectangle into 8 triangle areas. CONSTITUTION:A projection means 2 projects lattice having an interval being a reciprocal of a magnification onto an original picture, obtains the relation of correspondence between lattice points of the lattice projected onto the original picture and picture elements on the converted picture, and a division means 3 divides the rectangle into 8 triangle areas by tying two division points of each side of the rectangle taking 4 adjacent picture elements as apexes on the original picture projected with the lattice by the projection means 2 by means of line segments. An interpolation means 4 decides the lightness of the picture element on the converted picture corresponding to the lattice points included in the rectangle based on the lightness of the 4 picture elements being the apexes of the rectangle including the lattice points and on the areas including the lattice points. Thus, the connection of the picture elements on the converted picture in the oblique direction is made smooth. |
