PURPOSE:To suppress outflow and falling of metal carbonate even when a gas sensor section is not heated under high moisture environments by a method wherein metal carbonate for forming dissociation equilibrium with carbon dioxide gas is dispersedly added to one of electrode layers. CONSTITUTION:A cathode layer 14 is formed by firing after adding sodium carbonate 13 in a ratio of 10 to 50wt% to Au paste being an electrode material, dispersing it uniformly and applying on a surface of an ion conductor 11 uniformly with screening. If a gas sensor section is in non-heated state under high moisture environments, sodium carbonate 13 in the cathode layer 14 absorbs water in the atmosphere and reacts with hydrate or hydrogenated material to be expanded. However, since sodium carbonate 13 is fixed by Au being a main component of the cathode layer 14, floating and outflow due to moisture absorption can be suppressed. Therefore, metal carbonate may not easily flow out or fall from the cathode layer 14, preventing deterioration in the sensor section. |
