PURPOSE: To fix an inside tube by providing a launcher gap projected in the axial direction from a first end of the inside tube, a means for connecting the (r), (f) power to the inside tube inside of a launcher, and a dielectric material member for fixing both of the inside tube and an outside tube at constant relative positions and for sealing the connecting means. CONSTITUTION: An exciting device for electrifying the radio frequency (r), (f) power so as to excite the surface wave inside of a discharge tube 20 with the built-in filling material is formed of an inside tube 26, an outside tube 28 concentrically provided with the inside tube 26, a launcher gap 32 projected in the axial direction from a first end of the inside tube 26, a first and a second end walls 30, 31, at least one of which is formed with a hole for insertion of the discharge tube 20, and means 34-36 provided in the launcher 22 and for connecting the (r), (f) power to the inside tube 26, and a dielectric material means 29 arranged from the inside tube 26 to the outside tube 28 and for fixing both the tubes at constant relative positions. Size of the launcher gap is decided, and this structure contributes to the constant maintenance of size and fixation of the connecting means. |
