PURPOSE:To obtain a thin film magnetic head having small magnetic resistance, by providing plural multilayer thin film cores on a nonmagnetic substrate and setting the thickness of said magnetic core in a 1-50mum range along with the track width set larger than the magnetic core width of a winding part. CONSTITUTION:The thin film magnetic cores 2a, 2b and 2x are formed with ''Permalloy '', etc. on a nonmagnetic substrate 1 via insulated SiO2 layers 3a and 3b and by a mask vapor deposition process. Thus a multilayer magnetic thin film is obtained. This thin film is converted into a rectangular lamination element 4. Plural numbers of such element 4 are disposed on the substrate 1 with a space secured among them. An SiO2 film 5 is formed on the element 4, and then Al is vapor deposited to from a U-shaped conductor 6. The thickness of a multilayer magnetic thin film core is set in a 1-50mum, and each element 4 is cut at its both ends of the lower edge to obtain a track width TW. At the same time, the working gap depth Gd is obtained along with the magnetic core width WW at the winding part. The width TW is set larger than the width WW to decrease the magnetic resistance. In such a way, the permeance is increased for a thin film magnetic head. |
