PURPOSE:To reduce the toner consumption by exposing a simulated original to form an electrostatic latent image at each time of copying operation and repeating the processing to develop the latent image to a toner image and the latent image erasing processing with a prescribed period. CONSTITUTION:The reset signal from a reset circuit 16 and the output signal from a reflective sensor 6 are applied to a microprocessor 17, and the toner replenishing device driving signal from the processor 17 is applied to a driving circuit 18, and the output signal from this circuit 18 is applied to a toner replenishing motor 19. At the time of first and second copying operations, the toner image density is not detected because the electrostatic latent image of a simulated original 9 is not developed to a toner image. Consequently, the original is copied without replenishing toner. The toner image density of the simulated original 9 is detected after the end of the third copying operation, and toner is replenished when the density is reduced. Since it is unnecessary to develop the latent image of the simulated original 9 at each time of copying, the toner consumption is reduced and the burden on a cleaner 7 is reduced. |
