The invention relates to an orthopaedic smithery plate for a horse's hoof, which will in particular find its application in the field of equestrian sports and racing disciplines. Experimental studies have shown that mechanical stresses encountered at the hoof can be broken down into an initial high-amplitude vibrational phenomenon with frequencies from 0 to 200 Hz, caused by the impact of the hoof on the ground, and an inertial force of the mass of the body supported and propelled by the muscle organs of the supporting limb. The invention is in the form of a plate 5 which is interposed between the shoe 3 and the hoof 2 of the foot 1 of the horse, in order both to absorb the impact vibrations and reduce the maximum amplitude of the force with which the hoof bears on the ground. For this purpose, the plate 5 comprises a shock-absorbing elastomer pad made from an elastomer material which absorbs impact energy and is resistant to abrasion and tearing.
