In order to burn small quantities of oil per unit of time in an atmospheric oil burner which is designed for a relatively high nominal output, with a flame low in soot, an additional air duct is proposed with which the combustion air required for burning with a small flame on or directly above the bottom of the burner pot can be brought directly to the burning site and distributed there.
