<p>PURPOSE: To precisely detect infiltration of fluid by sending test pulses of fluid which can be discriminated from a normal pattern and can produce pressure wave response to a patient by way of a conduit means and measuring the area between the pressure-to-time curve and the base line. CONSTITUTION: Parenteral fluid is injected and made to permeate into a vein in a normal sending pattern at he speed selected from plural injection speeds by way of an infiltration detecting device 19, a conduit means 17, and a needle 18. A micro-processor 91 sends such test pulses of the fluid 13 as can be discriminated from a normal sending pattern and can produce pressure response waves inside the conduit means 17 to a patient by way of a regulator 29, a motor 27, a pulse generator 25, and an accumulator 21. The pressure response waves in the conduit means 17 are detected by a transformer 85 and taken into the device by way of a signal regulating circuit 87 and A/D 89. Then the area between the pressure/time curve and the base line is measured, and it is detected whether the fluid is properly supplied or not. In this way, infiltration of the fluid into blood can be precisely detected.</p> |
