The invention relates to a device for steering at least one set of wheels of a motor vehicle by means of at least one first steering rod controlled directly by the steering wheel. This device comprises steering-lock correction means inducing on the wheels steering-lock corrections as a function of at least one parameter representing the dynamic state of the vehicle and measured by a sensor (52 to 56) supplying a corresponding electrical signal, and means (51) for calculating at least one electrical correcting signal from this parameter, this signal being applied to said steering-lock correction means. The device is characterised in that the latter comprise a second steering rod parallel to the first (6, 16) and capable of being driven in translational movement by the latter, this second rod (2) acting on the wheels, and means (31, 33) for varying the relative position of the two rods (2; 6, 16) as a function of the correcting signal.
