PURPOSE:To ensure the effective use of the light of a light emitting diode array, by using a light emitting diode array and a reflecting plate as a light source. CONSTITUTION:An original reader is provided with a light source 7, a light guide system 8 using a ''Selfoc '' lens, etc., a photodetector array 9 and a reflecting plate 10. The plate 10 is set at the position opposite to the light source 7 and holding the system 8 with the source 7. The light radiated from the source 7 irradiates an original 11, and the reflected light reaches the array 9 through the system 8. At the same time, the light given from the source 7 and reflected from the original 11 is reflected by the plate 10 to irradiate the original 11 again. Thus the light given from the source 7 and reflected directly from the original 11 and the light from the source 7 and reflected from the original 11, the plate 10 and again the original 11 are made incident to the array 9. As a result, the light made incident to the array 9 increases. |
