2-Pyrimidylthiomethyl-pyridine derivs. of formula (I) and their therapeutically tolerable acid addition salts are prepd. by reacting a cpd. of formula (II) with a cpd. of formula (III). In the formulas, R1-R4 each = H, lower alkyl, halogen, amino or OH; R5 = free electron pair or lower alkyl; X = halogen when R5 is lower alkyl; m = 0 or 1. (I) have bronchosecretolytic, mucolytic and antiinflammatory activity, and are active after oral or parenteral administriation.
