NEW MATERIAL:The tricyclo[5.2.1.0<2>,<6>]dec-3-ene-8,9-dicarboxylic acid of formula I . USE:Useful as an intermediate raw material of epoxide heat-curing agent, polyester resin, polyimide resin, etc., and a precursor of agricultural chemicals such as fungicide, etc. or pharmaceuticals such as the drug for the central nervous system or circulatory system. Especially, for the use as a raw material of a polyimide resin aiming high heat resistance, it is useful as an intermediate of novel addition-type polyimide wherein the defects of the conventional condensation-type polyimide are eliminated. PROCESS:The compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting dicyclopentadiene with carbon monoxide and an alcohol or its derivative, i.e. acetal, ketal or alkyl orthoformate, in the presence of a palladium catalyst, an iron compound, etc. and/or oxygen, and hydrolyzing the resultant tricyclo[5.2.1.0<2>,<6>]dec-3-ene-8,9- diester of formula II (R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, etc.). |
