PURPOSE: To increase the precision of a machining dimension and reduce variation by operating a computer in such a way that an output signal indicating a distance between a first lapping face and a second lapping face is applied to a curve indicating the progress of machining operation using a distance and time as conditions. CONSTITUTION: A measured value of a distance separating lapping faces 10 and 11 from each other and the measured value of a thickness of a workpiece 13 are taken out by a linear variable differential transformer 14 provided on a lapping machine 1, and an analog signal is output to a digital signal input part 22 of a control computer as a digital signal. Moreover, an adequate timing pulse 31 is supplied to a digital signal input part 32 of the computer. The computer stores a digital input signal from the transformer 14, performs the application operation of a line to generate a line indicating the displacement between the lapping faces 10 and 11 as time function, and interpolates this line to determine the time when the workpiece 13 reaches a predetermined thickness. Machining is stopped when it reaches the estimated time. |
