PURPOSE:An emulsified cosmetic, containing stevioside, having a high safety for the skin, and improved emulsion stability and stability with time, good feeling of use and appearance, and useful as an emulsifying agent or emulsification assistant in a cream or milky lotion having a high product value. CONSTITUTION:An emulsified cosmetic prepared by incroporating stevioside which is a diterpene glycoside, consisting of a diterpene, sophorose and beta-D- glucopyranose, expressed by the formula, known as a medicinal sweetening agent for patients with hypertension and diabetes, and having seetness of about 300 times based on that of sucrose as a main constituent component with glycerol monoester of a fatty acid, a water-soluble high polymer, particularly a natural type surface-active substance, an oily substance and water. The above-mentioned stevioside is obtained by extracting a leaf of a composite perennial medicinal plant Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni naturally growing in Paraguay in South America, and the amount thereof to be used is 0.1-5.0wt%. The stevioside is considered to be a sweetening agent having the emulsifiability, and the application thereof to the food, etc. is expected. |
