The pivot articulation for the articulated connection of two portions of a standard ladder or of a scaffolding upon which it is possible to walk, or the like is formed by two articulation halves, which are connected to one another such that they can pivot about an articulation axis and which are connected, via a shaft part, in each case to one of the two parts to be connected pivotably to one another, and by a locking device which, with respect to the ladder or the scaffolding, can be unlatched from outside by exerting pressure and which comprises at least one locking bolt, which is made to engage by a loading spring, and a number of latching cutouts which are assigned to said bolt and are located in the head parts of the two articulation halves. <IMAGE>
