ORGANIC FILM, MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM, MAGNETIC HEAD, AND MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING METHOD

PURPOSE:To form an organic film having both of lubricating and protective effects and useful as a protective lubricating film for both a floating magnetic head and a magnetic recording medium by using a perfluoroalkylene polyether (derivative) and a (semi)liquid low-molecular compound as constituents. CONSTITUTION:A perfluoroalkylene polyether and/or its derivative [e.g. compounds of formulas I, II, and III (wherein n is 1 to 50; n+m is 2 to 100) having a molecular weight of about 1,000 to 20,000 and a kinematic viscosity (20 deg.C) of 10-4000cSt] is mixed with a liquid or semiliquid low-molecular compound (e.g. compounds of formulas IV, V, and VI) having a melting point of below 0 deg.C to prepare an organic film. By this technique, a uniform film can be formed because of reduced film viscosity and improved ability to wet an adherend. The film thus formed has a high lubricating and protective effect and can be used mainly as a protective film for a magnetic recording medium or a protective lubricating film for a magnetic head.
