The magazine has a magazine chute (1) with magazine lips (7) on the chute opening (3) and a feed device (5) which is guided displaceably in the magazine chute (1) by the force of a magazine spring (6) and presses the cartridges (4) against the magazine lips (7). The unobstructed width of the magazine chute (1) is expanded at the cartridge end beyond the diameter of the cartridge end. The cartridges (4) which follow one another in the magazine chute (1) rest with the cartridge ends alternately against only one or the other chute side wall (1.1), the cartridge ends on the cartridge case of the respectively next-lower cartridge (4) being offset laterally and downwards with respect to one another to such an extent that the cartridge axes run parallel to one another, in side view, at right angles to the centre plane of the magazine chute (1). <IMAGE>
