The automatic tape search process is used with video and audio recording that operates in the forward and reverse directions. The system is based upon a microcomputer controller (1) that has a coupled display (2), load/unload unit (3), end of tape sensor (4), mains unit (5), remote control signal receiver (6) and pushbutton panel (7). The microcomputer has a software routine that provides initialisation when the power is connected. A second step checks the pushbutton panel and initiates a series of operations. In the event that an automatic search routine is identified the system is activated until a stop is indicated. ADVANTAGE - Provides improved procedure for executing search cycle.
