<p>A pilot operated relief valve (16) includes a non-flowing modulated pilot valve (20) and a main valve (122). The pilot utilizes a torsion device (52) in connection with transducers (56, 58) and valves (136,140). The transducers (56,58) relate variations in pressure within 10 the valve system to the torsion device (52). The torsion device (52), in turn, acts to open and close various ports (84,114) of the pilot valve (20) so as to achieve modulated relief of overpressurized fluid from a pressure system. In addition, the torsion device (52) can be manipulated to provide for easily achieved and accurate set pressure positions.</p> |
