A GOLF CLUB WITH A FLEXIBLE SHAFT

A golf club comprising a flexible shaft (3) having at least two flexible portions whereat the bending stiffness is decreased and again increased longitudinally of the shaft, to increase the head speed by utilizing the flexure of the shaft. The flexible portions may be formed by articulated joints 5 or by a series of spaced tubular elements 12 with an outer plastics body 13 and spaces 14 between the elements 12. Alternatively the body is formed of wound carbon fibre where the winding is varied to provide the flexible portions.
