PURPOSE:To prevent the reoxidation of reduced iron and to recover effectively the sensible heat thereof by mixing a solid cooling medium having the grain size different from the grain size of the high temp. reduced iron from a reduction furnace with said iron, cooling the mixture to the temp. at which no oxidation arises then cooling the mixture with air. CONSTITUTION:A mixture composed of lumped ore, etc. and a carbonaceous material is preheated and is reduced by a burner 3 in a reduction furnace 2. The reduced iron M1 of about 1,000-1,200 deg.C formed by the reduction is charged into a rotary mixer 9, and a solid cooling medium M3 of the grain size smaller than the grain size of the reduced iron M1 is charged via a conveyor 12 into the mixer. The reduced iron M1 is cooled by a heat exchange to about 600-700 deg.C at which oxidation does not arise. The reduced iron is then supplied to an air cooler 10, where the iron is cooled to about 50- 200 deg.C by the air G3 from a blower 13. The iron is further fed to a screening machine 11, where the cooling medium M3 of the small size and the reduced iron M2 are screened. The reduced iron M2 is taken out by a conveyor 14 as a product, and the cooling medium M3 is fed to a conveyor 12. The high temp. air G4 obtd. by the heat exchange in the cooler 10 is taken out through a dust collector 15 and is utilized for the other purposes. |
