PROCESS FOR PREPARING A- ARYL -A PYRIDYL ALKANOIC ACID DERIVATIVES

Alpha-aryl-alpha-pyridyl alkanoic acid derivs. of formula (I) and their salts are prepd. by the hydrolysis of cpds. of formula (II). In (I), R1 is cyano or carbamoyl; R2 is H or Halo; R3 is H or lower alkyl; one of R4 and R5 is lower alkyl and the other is H; R6 and R7 are each lower alkyl or together completes piperazinyl gp. opt. substd. by lower alkyl. (I) have antiulcer and spasmolytic activity and are useful for treating ulcers and spasms.
