PURPOSE:To enhance the performance of an adiabatic engine by spraying oil onto the inner wall of a cylinder and the skirt section of a piston during upward strode of the piston. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 1 is divided into an upper cylinder liner 11 constituting an adiabatic section and a lower cylinder liner 12 constituting a nonadiabatic section. In this arrangement, an actuator 43 is operated in response to a signal which is delivered from a controller 5 at a predetermined time during each of exhaust stroke, intake strode and combustion stroke in accordance with a rotational speed signal from a rotational speed sensor 32 for detecting the rotational speed of a crank shaft 3 and a signal indicating a position of the moved piston 2 during combustion cycle, and accordingly a solenoid valve 42 is controlled so as to spray oil onto the inner surface of the lower cylinder liner 11 from an oil jet 4 thereby cooling the inner surface of the lower cylinder liner 11 and the skirt section of the piston 2. Thereby, the intake efficiency of the adiabatic engine can be enhanced. |
