The combustion head comprises a substantially cylindrical casing 2 which is open at one end 3 where a flame is set up and closed at the opposite end where a fuel inlet 10, 11 and an air inlet 8 are provided, several gas injectors 13, 14 being arranged inside this casing and consisting of tubular elements 15, 16 of axes substantially parallel to that of the casing and distributed about this casing axis, the said tubular elements including outlet holes for the gas to flow towards the said open end, a deflector 17 being further provided towards this end. A part 14 of the gas injectors has a sufficient length to make it possible to inject the gas downstream of the deflector 17, whereas the other part 13 of the injectors has a shorter length so as to inject the gas upstream of this deflector 17, the latter being adjustable in the axial direction between a retracted position in which the ends of the shortest injectors 13 are located just upstream of the said deflector and an advanced position in which the ends of the longest injectors 14 are located just downstream. <IMAGE>
