The invention relates to a device forming a translational stop-piece for a wheel, parallel to the axis 4 of the shaft 5 which carries it, of the type comprising a cap 21 which covers one end 5a of the shaft 5, and a ring 7 forming a spring mounted fixedly about the shaft 5 and inside the cap 21. According to the invention, the device is characterised in that it further comprises a washer 24 forming a sealing gasket and engaging tightly, overlapping the ring 7, on the one hand around the shaft 5 and, on the other hand, in a groove 23 formed in a peripheral rim 22 of the cap. The invention applies in particular to translationally holding the wheels and castors of trolleys, barrows and the like. <IMAGE>
