The invention relates to the arrangement of the axle bearings in a running gear for rail vehicles, each axle bearing having on the outside a rubber-metal shell segment with an outer metal shell and an inner metal shell and a rubber intermediate layer and is mounted by means of this shell segment in the side cheek of the running gear. The object of the invention was to find an arrangement of the axle bearings for a running gear for rail vehicles in which a required primary vertical suspension is to be combined with a required horizontal longitudinal rigidity of the axle bearings in a simple and cost-effective component. According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the rubber intermediate layer (4b) has break-throughs (6) running in the axial direction above the plane of the axle and in that metallic sub- segments (4d) are coaxially embedded in the rubber intermediate layer of the shell segment (4), beginning from the longitudinal sides of the latter. In this case there is arranged in each case one break-through (6) at the end of the sub-segments (4d) or one break-through (6) at the end of the sub-segments (4d) and at least one break-through (6) in the rubber intermediate layer (4b) above the break-throughs (6) at the end of the sub-segments (4d). <IMAGE>
