PURPOSE:To obtain the title substance which has a specific molecular weight, and is used as an additive for health food, because of high inhibitory action of cholesterol increase without use of injurious treatment agent or medicines, by blasting wheat bran or its treated product and extracting the blasted product with water or hot water. CONSTITUTION:Wheat bran is combined with 10 fold amount of water, washed with stirring for about 40 minutes and dehydrated by centrifugation. Then, the residue is combined with about 10 fold amount of ethanol, heated at about 60 deg.C with stirring for 40 minutes, and centrifuged to remove the ethanol and its extract and dried. The dried product is blasted batchwise, extract with water or hot water, the extract is treated with an ultrafiltration membrane and fractionated by gel-filtration chromatography to give the subject inhibitory substance of serum cholesterol increase. |
