The invention concerns a steering gear, in particular for motor vehicles, with a steering shaft (10), carrying a toothed segment, and a steering-gear nut (4) which engages in the toothed segment by means of a toothed rack (7) and which can be displaced axially by means of a steering spindle. In order to eliminate the tooth play which occurs between the toothed segment and the toothed rack (7), a spring pressure element (14) is provided which is located outside the plane, containing the steering-wheel spindle axis, which is at right angles to the toothing plane of the toothed rack (7). The spring pressure element (14) exerts a turning force on the steering-gear nut (4) when the steering gear is in the straight-ahead position. The spring pressure element (14) consists of two rings (15, 16) located concentric to each other on the steering shaft (10). The two rings (15, 16) are connected to each other by a crosspiece (17). The outer ring (15) has an extension (18), extending radially outwards, which is the same shape as the centre tooth of the toothed segment and abuts the toothed rack (7) when the steering ring is in the straight-ahead position. The side of the inner ring (16) facing the toothed rack (7) abuts the steering shaft (10). |
