PURPOSE:To obtain a developer not causing wide distribution of electrostatic chargeability, oppositely chargeable toner, and background stains even after long time uses, by giving a specified resin component and a specified electrostatic charge controller to a developer contg. a carrier coated with a silicone resin on its surface. CONSTITUTION:The developer of an electrostatic latent image comprises a mixture of carrier particles coated with a silicone resin on their surfaces and toner particles consisting of a resin component, a charge controller, and a colorant. The main part of said resin component is a vinyl type polymer having >=100,000wt. average mol. wt. and contg. >=70wt% styrene, and the charge controller is a metal complex dye having formula I in which X, Y, Z are each H, halogen, COOH, OH, NO2, sulfone, or sulfamide; and A<+> is H<+>, K<+>, Na<+>, or aliphatic ammonium cation, such as a dye of the formula II. The obtained developer of an electrostatic latent image does not cause extention of chargeability distribution, oppositely chargeable toner, deterioration of image quality, and background staining even after long time uses, while it retains high prevention effect against tendency of production of spent toners and carriers. |
