PURPOSE:To enable the batch switching of a multifiber optical cable by fixing the axis of a 1st ferrule, switching ferrules by the linear parallel movement of both 2nd and 3rd ferrules, and guiding the parallel movement of both the ferrules by a guide. CONSTITUTION:The tip of a positioning pin 8 is moved back into the 1st ferrule 3A by a pin attaching and detaching mechanism 9 and a holder 6 for switching is moved by a parallel slide mechanism 10 to switch abutting combinations of the ferrules 3A - 3C. Further, the pin attaching and detaching mechanism 9 is driven again to fit the positioning pin 8 extending both the ferrules, thus completing the switching. In this case, the axis of the 1st ferrule is fixed and the 2nd and 3rd ferrules 3B and 3C are switched by the single linear parallel movement of them. Consequently, the substantial transmission break time is nearly only the time of the parallel movement, both the ferrules are held in one body, and their parallel movement is guided by the guide 7. Consequently, the batch switching of the multiunit optical fiber is enabled. |
